In the framework of the WP H Risk Management Capabilities, activity H 1.4, the Training of Trainers on DRA Methodology Georgia development was held in Tbilisi, Georgia from January 30 to February 1, 2024. The objective of the training was strengthening knowledge and practical skills of national DRA stakeholders in the Disaster Risk Assessment methodology development for providing the DRA trainings at local level.
The training was provided by two DRA experts of CIMA Research Foundation Mrs. Lia Romano and Mrs. Tatiana Bedrina.
During the training to the national experts the tools and knowledge for providing DRA trainings at local level were provided. At all 15 experts
(7 females and 8 males) participated, representing Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia Subordinated State Entity Emergency Management Service, National Security Council, Georgian Red Cross Society, LEPL National Forestry Agency, LEPL National Environmental Agency.
At the beginning of the first day welcome words were provided by the Head of Civil Protection
The training consisted of theoretical part with presentations and practical sessions. At the end of the training all materials necessary for the DRA training providing were shared with participants. During the training the full risk scenario of wildfire in Borjomi was discussed. The Borjomi risk scenario was developed by CIMA Research Foundation experts basing on RISICO wildfire hazard maps and output of the Propagator model were applied.
The training was held in an interactive environment with great involvement of participants. The facilitators received positive feedback on the materials and approaches provided. At the end of the training the certificates of participation were delivered to participants
