Crisis communication and Public Awareness workshop Moldova

11-12 March PPRD East 3 experts Johanna Rixer and Josefin Barck from Myndigheten för samhällsskydd och beredskap (MSB) were hosting a 2 day workshop on Crisis Communication and Public Awareness in Moldova. On the second day, Public Awareness expert Tamar Kamkamidze from the Red Cross joined the team. The workshop was interactive with an open approach to learning, sharing experiences and working with case scenarios.
Some of the topics covered were the fundamentals and methods of Crisis Communication and Public Awareness, target groups, social media and how to deal with rumours, working with mass media as well as support to the development of the communication strategy. We are also sharing EU best practises and examples from Sweden.
Day two was dedicated to media and the role of the journalist, methods for behavioural change and working together on the planning of public awareness campaigns.
Some key takeaways identified from the participants were the session about target groups and platforms to reach the youth and vulnerable groups as well as exchange of experiences.
